This truly is a very unique role so I'm not going to tell you about all the "usual" EA tasks and responsibilities, as a professional EA - I expect you'll know them very well.
Instead, I'm going to tell you why you would want this job....
Firstly, and very importantly, the outgoing EA has worked for him for many years. When I asked her why she had stayed so long her immediate response was "I really like the people here and I love working for [the partner], he's great, very easy to work for, great sense of humour, flexible, he works really hard and you need to be very fast, but he's very good at setting expectations, very clear on priorities, has very clear communication, will answer questions and has an open door policy".
And from his perspective, he's looking for an EA who has an extremely high work ethic, very professional, sophisticated in the way they present themselves verbally, grammatically, telephone and face-to-face, someone who really likes to be heavily involved with clients, utmost professionalism, sensitivity, diplomacy, discretion and an unshakeable level of confidentiality.
And a few other things you'd like to know...
What you will absolutely need to excel in this role is very advanced Word + Excel and an extremely fast typing speed (minimum 70wpm) and solid experience with dictaphone.
You'll also need to be someone who can easily switch between answering lots of calls, emails for (and from!) your Partner in the midst of typing and formatting large reports and scheduling multiple meetings.
