The primary objectives of the Chief Surveyor are to provide safe, accurate, cost effective and timely spatial information across the organization. The Chief Surveyor must exhibit strong leadership and provide an innovative approach towards the development and continual improvement of the Survey Department.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities include:

* Comply with all Company policies and procedures and the Mining Act and Regulations
* Lead team of professionals and ensure ongoing training and development
* Manage the Survey budget
* Maintenance and management of the organization spatial information and datasets
* Ensure reconciliations between Surveyed and Hauled mined volumes are reported accurately as a part of End-of-Month mine production.
* Develop and maintain work practices and procedures of the highest professional and safety standards to achieve optimum performance of mine production functions
* Provide supervision and quality assurance of the survey control network both in the active mines and regionally
* Ensure consistency of procedures, practices and personnel. This also includes all relevant IT systems, SURPAC and other software development and maintenance
* Management of Survey staff development, including; training matricis, individual staff needs and succession planning
* Business Improvement initiatives, with particular emphasis on technology and industry developments

The successful candidate will possess the following:

* Experience in a Senior or Chief Surveyor position within the mining industry, preferably iron ore
* Degree or Diploma in Surveying
* Authorization as a Mine Surveyor within Western Australia
* Sound computer literacy across various platforms and applications, including knowledge of Surpac or other mining software
* Ability to provide effective leadership, supervision and mentoring of staff
* The ability to take responsibility and offer innovative thinking in a dynamic environment
* Solid communication skills both written and verbal
* Strong level of attention to detail
