Principal Mechanical Engineer

Melbourne

A leading global engineering firm and one of Australias most reputable projects focused firms, this client is looking to consolidate its position in the market by attaining the best and most qualified engineers!

 The current requirement is for principal level engineers from a mechanical or process discipline. The position will be situated in the Melbourne office due to an overload in project requirements, and functionally, the scope will cross both energy and mining divisions. The opportunities further down the track will be extensive, and a move to future projects with prestigious clients in the oil and gas industry is a real possibility for those who wish to broaden their horizons.

 Other responsibilities include:

 Technical review and troubleshooting of plant engineering, proposals, and maintenance activities

  • Conceptual and detailed design engineering
  • Formulation of strategies for processing plant improvements
  • Development and implementation of strategies for asset management
  • Project management
  • Financial budgeting and forecasting
  • Optimisation and modernisation proposals and tenders
  • Contract preparation and negotiation, client liaison

 The successful candidate will ideally possess extensive experience in the energy and/or mining industries. Whilst you will obviously have a high level of technical understanding, what will set you apart is your ability to appreciate the client/consultant relationship, ensure that the deliverables and results meet the desired outcomes, and the skill to continue winning assignments for the future growth of the organisation. As a highly experienced technical advisor, you will be an integral part of the team, reporting to the group manager.

 Other relevant competences/training include:

 Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline

  • Experience in working on multi-million dollar projects and assignments
  • Project work in oil and gas, petrochemical, mining and minerals processing or generation
  • Experience in a consultancy or project management/services environment
  • Both conceptual and detailed design engineering
