Our client is a large operational mining company that controls Iron Ore rights to one of the largest tenement portfolios across the Pilbara region. They have a number of exciting projects at varying stages of development and require an experienced Approvals Manager to join the management team.
The focus of this important role is to lead and oversee the successful delivery of a pipeline of early stage projects from concept/scoping phase to definitive feasibility and engineering study stages. The studies role will require the individual to lead a studies team, including external contractors, and ensure that the studies are delivered within designated timeframes and budgets.
Primary responsibilities include;
* Partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure that proposed studies have sound bankable business cases, are aligned to the overall corporate strategy and meet relevant hurdle requirements.
* Oversee and lead the development of a cost effective studies delivery capability able to support a pipeline of projects at various stages.
* Development and implementation of an appropriate contracting strategy covering the use of third party resources during the study development process.
* Development of owners team policies, procedures, requirements and systems.
* Ensure that an appropriate strategy for each study is developed and executed that optimises schedules and budgets and the overall cost to the owner.
* Determine, monitor and manage schedules for each study including the interfaces between different contractors.
* Determine, monitor and manage budgets for each study.
* Keep the Project Director and relevant stakeholders fully informed.
* Coordinate and provide necessary information / reporting to support management reporting.
* Drive and advise on the resolution of any key issues impacting a study.
* Establish and oversee appropriate interfaces/partnerships with key stakeholders e.g. exploration department, sales, environmental, native title, heritage, land access departments etc.
* Ensure an appropriate system is in place to transition studies to the relevant senior project management heads (port, mine and rail) at the time of handover.
To be considered for this role you have;
* a tertiary degree in engineering or similar
* 10+ years experience in relevant large-scale multi-discilpinary studies management role in a construction / infrastructure and/or resource industry environment
* significant experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering consultants for an owners team
* Strong project management / approvals execution planning skills
* Good understanding of legal and regulatory requirements impacting the delivery of studies
* Excellence in management reporting and presentation
* Demonstrated personal leadership
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills especially stakeholder coordination skills
* Solutions and results orientated
* Proven analytical, logical reasoning and problem solving abilities
* Proven planning and organising activities
